Through the Window They Came
MANIFESTO
Trolling isn’t a dumb joke.
SYNOPSIS
This short film follows Jason and Kate, a couple whose lives are turned upside down when social media algorithms draw Jason into the alt-right pipeline. Using a hybrid of live action film and desktop screen recording (inspired by films like Searching and Unfriended), the narrative explores the real-life impacts of our behaviour in online spaces.
Trolling doesn’t just happen on the dark web. It affects real people, who have to move house, receive dead animals in the mail, suffer relentless in-person or IRL violence and experience ongoing trauma. Radical organisations are targeting people as young as 11, especially adolescent white males. There are no winners in the world of online predator trolling.
ACTIVISM
End online violence.
RUN
In post-production. When released, this film will be sent to the global festival circuit alongside a campaign advocating for the end of online violence.
