Not Now, Not Ever: A Parliament of Women
MANIFESTO
A political, queer, feminist satire about our nation’s politics.
SYNOPSIS
Prax thinks the world is f*cked and wants to start a rebellion. In the dead of night, she gathers all the women in town in a dark and dingy room and hatches a plot to Take the F*ck Over.
There’s just one problem: In a small village, there’s not that many revolutionaries on hand when you want to change the game. Prax tries to convince the other women at the secret meeting of why they should hang up their wifely duties and Change The Game! (she’s still working on her campaign slogans). While prying the sewing needles out of her yiayia’s hands, she realises that only she can start the fire that’s going to make the country burn with a fresh start. Everyone is worried but she’s on a mission for equal pay and to Dismantle the Capitalist Empire! She might be one voice amongst many, but that’s how it begins. Revolution is in the small steps too.
Not Now, Not Ever: or A Parliament of Women is a modern adaptation of Assemblywomen by Aristophanes, presented by activism arts company Queen Hades. This show is a queer, gender-bending satirical take on an already uproariously funny comedy from over 2000 years ago.
